What it is
Injury to the ligament limiting posterior tibial translation, often caused by a blow to the front of the shin with the knee bent or by hyperextension.
Typical clinical symptoms
- Pain and swelling after trauma
- Pain at the back of the knee
- Difficulty descending stairs or decelerating
- Instability in larger or combined injuries
