When does the knee need medical guidance?
Deformity after trauma, inability to bear weight, a fully locked knee, immediate major swelling, a hot red knee with fever, or a change in foot pulse, colour or sensation require prompt medical assessment.
Descriptions are for orientation. Diagnosis follows history, clinical examination and, only when indicated, imaging or laboratory tests.
