Typical clinical symptoms
- Fatigue and reduced aerobic capacity
- Breathlessness or rapid heartbeat with loading
- Pallor, dizziness or slow recovery

When is medical assessment needed?
Deformity or an open wound after trauma, immediate loss of function, disproportionate pain with a tense segment, neurological weakness, worsening symptoms after a head impact, collapse during exertion, confusion in heat and very dark urine after exercise require emergency assessment.
