Typical clinical symptoms
- Pelvic or perineal pain, including pain with intercourse
- Pelvic pressure or heaviness
- Urgency, urinary leakage or difficulty emptying requires appropriate specialist assessment

Trauma with deformity or inability to bear weight, a very painful hip with fever, a child or adolescent with sudden limping, progressive neurological weakness, bladder or bowel change, and unexplained pain with systemic symptoms require prompt medical assessment.
