What it is

Typical clinical symptoms
- Pain and swelling behind the ankle
- Restricted dorsiflexion and calf weakness
- Difficulty with push-off, fast walking or stairs

Fever or wound discharge, wound opening, new one-sided leg swelling, difficulty breathing, chest pain, a cold limb, progressive weakness, deformity or sudden loss of function require immediate contact with the medical team or emergency services.
