Typical clinical symptoms
- Groin pain with sprinting, turning or kicking
- Pain with adductor squeeze or abdominal exercise
- Reduced speed and power during direction change

When is medical assessment needed?
Deformity or an open wound after trauma, immediate loss of function, disproportionate pain with a tense segment, neurological weakness, worsening symptoms after a head impact, collapse during exertion, confusion in heat and very dark urine after exercise require emergency assessment.
