Typical clinical symptoms
- One-sided low-back or buttock pain
- Pain with rolling in bed, stairs or asymmetrical stance
- Symptoms that may spread into the buttock or back of the thigh

When is medical guidance needed?
Trauma with deformity or inability to bear weight, a very painful hip with fever, a child or adolescent with sudden limping, progressive neurological weakness, bladder or bowel change, and unexplained pain with systemic symptoms require prompt medical assessment.
